What can occasional moments of “lucidity” tells us about the disease process of dementia?

I’ve read anecdotally that there are moments of lucidity in a subset of patients with Alzheimers. I’ve also read anecdotally that these tend to decrease over the disease course, which is broadly consistent with their presence and absence being a window into one’s remaining capacity for personal identity. I will update this page as I learn more about it.
